BATTLE FOR THE BUCKLE: The 2026 Quarter-Max Grassroots Series Kicks Off
There is a specific kind of magic that only happens at the 1/8th mile. It’s the smell of burnt rubber hanging thick in the humid air, the focused silence in the staging lanes, and the split-second reaction times that separate a winner from a runner-up.
If you live for the "win light," the Quarter-Max Battle for the Buckle is officially back for 2026. This isn't just another bracket series; it’s a high-stakes tour across the South Central Division designed to crown the best grassroots racers in the region.
The Stakes: More Than Just Bragging Rights
We know why you do it—the love of the sport—but a little extra "green" in the pocket doesn't hurt. This year, the Quarter-Max series is putting some serious skin in the game. The top eight finishers in each category will walk away with a piece of the pie.
How the Battle Works
The beauty of the Battle for the Buckle is that it rewards both dedication and performance. The 2026 series features a 7-race schedule, but we know life happens (and sometimes the car just doesn't want to cooperate).
To keep the championship hunt fair, officials will count your best four finishes. This gives you the flexibility to travel to the tracks you love while still staying in the hunt for that belt buckle.

The 2026 Road Map
This year, the series is rotating through the South Central Division’s most iconic strips. From the red dirt of Oklahoma to the Texas heat, here is where you need to be:
- April 12: Wichita Raceway Park (Wichita Falls, TX)
- May 9: Prescott Raceway (Prescott, AR)
- May 30: Amarillo Dragway (Amarillo, TX)
- June 20: Ardmore Dragway (Ardmore, OK)
- August 1: Paris Dragstrip (Paris, TX)
- TBA: Keep your eyes peeled for a mid-season surprise!
- October 10: Xtreme Raceway Park (Ferris, TX) — The Grand Finale!
Are You Ready to Stage?
Grassroots racing is the heartbeat of the NHRA, and the Battle for the Buckle is where legends are made on the local level. Whether you're a seasoned Super Pro vet or a Junior racer just starting out, the path to the championship starts now.
Dust off the firesuit, check your delay box, and get your dial-in ready. We’ll see you in the pits.
