Quarter-Max Racing Unveils One-of-a-Kind Late Model Pro Mod Mustang for Hall of Famer J.R. Osborne, Powered by FFRE

GALESBURG, ILL. – April 16, 2026 – Quarter-Max Racing is thrilled to announce the official unveiling of a highly anticipated, custom-built Late Model Pro Mod Mustang engineered for racing legend J.R. Osborne. This one-of-a-kind drag racing project combines Quarter-Max’s premier chassis fabrication with devastating horsepower provided by internationally recognized Fast Forward Race Engines (FFRE).
Quarter-Max Racing is incredibly excited to collaborate with both Osborne and the team at FFRE on this exceptional build, and the entire crew is eager to see what this state-of-the-art Pro Mod machine can do once it hits the drag strip.

The Driver: A Legacy of Speed Piloting the new Pro Mod Mustang is J.R. Osborne, a native of Centennial, Colorado, and a 2025 inductee into the Colorado Motorsports Hall of Fame. Osborne brings a lifetime of diverse and dominant motorsports experience to the drag strip. His accolades include:
- 5-Time SCCA National Champion, including a prestigious SCCA Triple Crown.
- The first American to win a European Superkart race.
- A proven track record of applying road-racing precision to extreme high-horsepower platforms, including his recent transition into Pro Mod Drag Racing.

The Powerplant: Fast Forward Race Engines To ensure the Late Model Pro Mod Mustang operates at the absolute pinnacle of drag racing performance, Quarter-Max partnered with New Port Richey, Florida-based Fast Forward Race Engines. Owned and operated by third-generation engine builder Joe Irwin and his wife Gina, FFRE is the industry standard for modern high-horsepower platforms, particularly the Ford 5.0L Coyote.
FFRE brings a championship-winning pedigree to the Osborne project with a Twin-Turbo Coyote. Known for their extreme-performance Stage 2 and Stage 3 short blocks, proprietary custom sleeving via their in-house BlockMaster CNC, and specialty hardware, FFRE engines are routinely built to withstand 1,300+ wheel horsepower. Their dominance in the drag-and-drive community was recently cemented when they earned Engine Builder Magazine's 2023 "Engine of the Year" honors for their work on Brett LaSala’s record-breaking "Snot Rocket" Mustang.

With Quarter-Max's elite fabrication, FFRE's bulletproof engine program, and Osborne's championship-winning pedigree behind the wheel, this Late Model Pro Mod Mustang is poised to be a dominant force on the strip this season.
